#This album was given to me as a gift for my 18th birthday by someone with a very good taste in music and it will always remind me of that...

Back to Cardiff.

Might sound silly but it feels like I’m going home not leaving it.

Brian Eno - An Ending (Ascent)

Is there a track more moving and yet so simple as this one? If so I have yet to find it.

It’s beauty is, to me at least, that you can be listening to it and looking at anything, and it somehow has the potential to completely change and reverse the context and meaning of the image you see.

It somehow emphasises both the openess and vasteness of unlimited space while also reminding us that that can at times mean loneliness and isolation. It is longing and somehow at the same time a completion, or ending as the title might suggest. It brings the close of death and yet somehow at the same time the promises of birth and the discoveries ahead which only new life can offer.

It is neither sad nor happy but a whole different emotion which cannot be truly explained without listening.
